Concrete is the most used construction material in the world. Its history of use is well demonstrated and proven as an integral part of building communities. Whether concrete’s use is above or below ground, it provides assurances in performance as a structural, durable, and environmental solution to build the public infrastructure we need to live and prosper.
This presentation by the Ontario Concrete Pipe Association (OCPA) will provide an overview of precast concrete components being used today to construct buried infrastructure, such as: concrete pipe for storm and sanitary sewers; precast culverts for drainage; and, precast structures for transportation and utilities. Offered in this presentation will be some of the technical tools and resources available to design engineers, project managers and field staff to construct successful projects that create functional and environmentally conscious municipal infrastructure.
