National Public Works Week
May 16 - 22, 2021
Every year National Public Works Week gets bigger and better. The number of participating municipalities continues to grow, which means the number of citizens who are exposed to the value of public works grows. At APWA one of our main goals is to educate the general public about the value and necessities of public works projects throughout North America, and public works professionals like you are our best ambassadors.
Since 1960, APWA has sponsored National Public Works Week. Across North America, our more than 29,000 members in the U.S. and Canada use this week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating at the heart of their local communities to improve everyday quality of life.
APWA encourages public works agencies and professionals to take the opportunity to make their stories known in their communities. The National Public Works Week How-To Guide is one of several resources the Association makes available to agencies to assist them in the development and implementation of their own individual celebrations. The occasion is marked each year with scores of resolutions and proclamations from mayors and governors, as well.
This 'How You Can Celebrate' link has ideas of what you can do to join in the celebrations.
National Public Work Week posters are a great way to recognize your Public Works team and create awareness for National Public Works Week. To see some information about this year’s poster click here .
